I would recognize your father anywhere. What a wonderful picture of him. You have done a great job of making these photos available. When I was little, I heard about "The Zaide," but don't think I've ever seen a picture of him. He's exactly how I imagined him.

Thanks so much for sharing these with Claire, who of course sent them on to me.

Is it my computer or does the photo with the seven bathing beauties look like it has a colored ocean and background? Anyway, they are wonderful photos!

Wonderful pics, and captioning as well - thank you for them.

I'll take a look through my albums and what-not to see if I have something
in which you may be interested.

I lived with Grandma Mary and Grandpa Abe in their flat
(Revere, MA) during the war years and while I don't remember
Nachum all that well, I do remember "breakfasting" with him on those
mornings he'd return from schul. He'd save me a taste of the schnapse
he'd topped his breakfast off with. This, naturally, pleased my mother very much.

I remember Aunt Lena & Uncle Harry and your Dad Milton as clear and as bright as the sun.
and my memories of them always brings a smile to my face.

Jon

Shari, I think the "Bathing Beauties" may look colorized only because I touched up the sky. The orginal picture has a great big brown stain on it. On my monitor it looks fine, but it may appear differently on yours. I touched up a handful of the photos.

Jon, Welcome! I'll be sure to let you know if I post any more photos. It's funny that you mention schnapse. I noticed thre is a shot glass on the table in front of the Zayde.

Great pictures. I'll look to see if I have a few with your parents. I know I have some of Zayde (as he is also my mom's grandfather). I may have one with your parents and cousin's in Skowhegan Maine visiting Lipman family.

Thank you, this brought so many memories of when I lived in Boston area, not sure whether it was Dorchester or Roxbury. Aunt Lena & Uncle Harry, Aunt Mary & Uncle Abe, and Aunt Laura, were so good & kind to my sister Cynthia, my mother,& me. I used to play with your father when I went to his home after school.

Wow - I am a descendent of Ida Cohen and I have been researching the family on ancestory.com. I loved your pictures and will share them with my family. My mom has given me some pictures I can share with you. Right now they are posted on ancestory - but I can email them as well.

My daughter, Amy Moss Trombly, just shared your site with me. Your fantastic pictures have flooded my head with wonderful memories of a close, warm, and generous family. I inherited the Handverger family photos and will share them with Amy who will offer them to your readers.

After Uncle Morris' death in Wisconsin, his Phi Beta Kappa Key was given to my Uncle, Sam Handverger. After Sammy's death in 1991, it was entrusted to me. Like Lena, my grandparents, aunts and uncles kept Uncle Morris' memory alive all the days of their lives.

I am the only child of Dorothy Handverger and Harry Berger. My mom was the youngest child of Ida Cohen and Hyman Handverger. I saw a note from Jon Perlmutter above. My mom and Jon's mom were great pals in their youth. Additionally, Esther and Ruth Fine, and the children of the other Cohen siblings spent many summer days at the Handverger homestead in Medway.

Through our cousin Steven Gass, I now have possession of Maurice Sydney Coburne's 1921 Bowdoin College diploma.

Besides Maurice, I am the only other Bowdoin graduate of the Lipman/Cohen.

Go Polar Bears! Beat Colby!

At this count, relatives of the Lipman/Cohen Family hold eighteen Colby diplomas.

It is lonely for Maurice and I always being on top. We would welcome others in the family to join us.
