Thankful for Fall

Filed under: Minkoff Musings — carra @ 11:27:48 pm

We hope everyone had a wonderuful Thanksgiving. Despite being stranded by sniffly noses in Elkins Park, we made the most of it and had a lovely Thanksgiving. We had hoped to be in Harrisburg with my family, but had to make the tough, but correct call, of staying put. I schlepped Sydra on a few errands earlier in the day, but felt she had to lay low in the afternoon. Eli and I got out and raked this afternoon. We were both happy to be outside on a gorgeous November day.

I was very excited to receive an email announcing the arrival of our newest relative! Eli Solomon Tabak, son of Jenny Simon Tabak and Daniel Tabak was born on 11/17. Here are some of the photos. He's a beautiful baby!

(What a great way to celebrate being able to post pictures again.)

Halloween 2006

Sydra is not a tiger. At 5:00 on Halloween night with the costume already to be put on, she announced, "I don't want to be a tiger." In my most matronizing voice I said, "OK Sweetie, would you like to be a big special cat that's orange with black stripes?". She said thay would be fine and through out the night proudly proclaimed, "I a big special cat!"

Benefits of Blogging!

Thanks to my on-line family album I made a wonderful connection! Mash Lipman let me know that his great nephew, Keith Simon, lives close to Philadelphia. After a few emails and some research we realized we work 2 blocks from one another. We had lunch yesterday. I'm learning more and more that we have some truly remarkable people in our family. It was so much fun to spit fire questions at Keith (I kept tripping over my questions in my excitement to learn more). One of the neat things we discovered is that he has met one of my dearest friends, Holli Berman, who is the Hazanit/Cantorial Soloist at Congregation Har HaShem http://www.harhashem.org/ in Boulder, CO.
