During the first weekend in January Scott's immediate family came to celebrate his birthday. Martha came from North Carolina, Stephen from Buffalo, Debby, Gregg and Lauren schlepped from Cumberland, MD and Richard flew from New Mexico. Max, Robin, Alena, Aviva and Jonah drove all the way from Mt. Airy -- (about 7 or 8 miles away). It was a great weekend.
Unfortunately I'm not able to consistently post pictures due to some technical difficulties -- and I just hit the grandmother load! Mom had a big bag full of Grandma's photos and lots of really fascinating things from Uncle Morris. While I'm gearing up to scan those things, here are a few items I've been waiting to post...
On August 10, 1903 Rochel arrived at Ellis Island with Liebe (Aunt Laura)age 10 and Moische (Uncle Morris)age 5. They arrived on the SS Finland. It says they were to live with Nochim Kukes (I'll never figure out a consistent spelling)at 76 Hipole Street, Providence, RI. Does that address mean anything to those of you reading this?
Here is the excerpt of the original manifest along with a photo of the ship. I have the full .gif file with the manifest that I can email directly -- it's too big to post here. The image is wider than most computer screens, so you may want to save it to your computer or scroll to the right.

The big news on the Braveman front is that Mom is moving! After 40 years on Linglestown Road in Harrisburg, Elaine is headed to a lovely "retirement living" complex up the road. She should be moved in around mid-January. Here's a link to her new home: http://www.holidaytouch.com/features/newdetail.asp?ID=5405
We hope she can keep her old phone number.
Since she will need to consolidate her belongings to fit into the new space, I've been busy scanning the pictures from around her house to drop into a digital picture frame. Here's one I've been very excited to post. It's Nochem Wolfe with Aunt Laura and Grandma (Lena). I'm guessing it's around the late 19-teens. I made the image as large as the site would accept so you could see the details.

I wish everyone a great 2007!
