Yet a 3rd fridge is waiting in the wings. Thanks Stew and Roe!
Please remember that if you want to prepare a meal sign up using the CALENDAR APPLICATION:
http://freecal.brownbearsw.com/Windsor_Avenue
For you non-techies, it's really easy. Just click the date you'd like to bring something and then in the "Enter text for a new event:" section put your name and what you're bringing. Then hit "Create Event" and you're done.
Thanks to Heather Lovitz, there is a microwave for Diane and family.
Thanks to Pam Maman and Marty Cohen there are not one but two small refrigerators waiting in the wings.
As far as where to bring the meals -- please drop me an email when you decide on a date and I'll give you her parents' address directly.
Below is info on our meal calendar: http://freecal.brownbearsw.com/Windsor_Avenue
I'm setting up this page as a central place for friends and neighbors looking for ways to help Diane T. As you probably know there was a fire in her home on 2/10/07. Many people have offered to mobilize and help. I'm offering up this page as a place for us to communicate. On the bottom right of this post you'll see a link to "Comment". If you have items you'd like to contribute, or you have insight to what may be needed, please feel free to use this forum.
To recap – so far it looks like the fire may NOT have caused structural damage. There are lots of adjusters and inspectors who have yet to weigh in, but it looks hopeful. Though the kitchen was left charred and ruined, their clothes, toys, photos, paperwork, etc. are pretty much intact. The company that boarded up the house will also clean it out and get rid of the smells. Diane is staying with her parents close by. Though her mom is going to do a lot of the cooking, I’d like to start organizing meals as soon as possible, as Diane’s father is very ill, so cooking for 5 is going to be taxing (Diane works full time and is a single mom). If you chose to sign up to make a meal or part of a meal, please also think about dropping off a non-perishable staple item that she can use when she's back in her home (oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, ketchup, spices, Bisquick, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, etc.) Here is the link: http://freecal.brownbearsw.com/Windsor_Avenue
Ironically my mom moved into assisted living last week, so I'll be going to her house next week to bring back some dishes and a few Corning ware cooking dishes with lids.
I think we should track down a dorm-sized refrigerator and a microwave for the time she's back in her house but waiting for the kitchen to be repaired. As far as frozen meals, keep in mind that freezer space may be limited -- if you live close by maybe you can leave some space in your freezer.
Thanks to everyone for your caring! Pass this on to others who want to help out.
